Whether it was because of the daunting nature of the task ahead or because of the bowlers’ probing lines on a sticky surface, there was a distinct air of unease about Shikhar Dhawan and Yuvraj Singh when India Red resumed their innings on the third day of the Duleep Trophy final. Both batsmen played some lovely drives, but in between there were a series of tentative, speculative pokes, played more with hope than with conviction. Ultimately, both overnight batsmen fell playing adventurous shots to enable India Blue to tighten their stranglehold on an increasingly one-sided final.
