UEFA Youth League Results 2016: Updated Tables, Scores After Wednesday Fixtures

Arsenal slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Basel on Wednesday in the UEFA Youth League.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain enjoyed better fortune, as they picked up away wins at Borussia Monchengladbach and Ludogorets, respectively, while Bayern Munich beat Atletico Madrid 3-1.

Later in the day, Manchester City will take on Celtic in Scotland.

After matching the senior side’s feat of picking up a point away at PSG in their opening game, Arsenal looked to get their first win on the board at home to Basel. The match didn’t quite go as planned, however.

Despite controlling much of the ball in the early stages, the Gunners failed to convert their possession into chances and went in at half-time a goal down after Eray Cumart caught out goalkeeper Hugo Keto with a spectacular free-kick from inside his own half shortly before the break.

Arsenal captain and defensive stalwart Krystian Bielik went off injured at the interval, and his presence was undoubtedly missed by the hosts for the remainder of the game.

Nevertheless, Vlad Dragomir was able to grab an equaliser after 55 minutes, per Arsenal:
