Arc de triumph: Hill throws O’s a curve in win

BALTIMORE — A’s lefty Rich Hill limited the O’s to one run on two hits over 5 1/3 innings to win his fourth game of the season as Oakland topped Baltimore, 8-4, in the first game of a split doubleheader on Saturday at Camden Yards.
Led by Marcus Semien, who had an RBI single and two-run homer, Oakland posted 15 hits en route to snapping a four-game losing skid. Jed Lowrie went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored in the A’s series-opening win.
After the A’s touched Mike Wright for five runs over five-plus innings, Semien went deep off Orioles lefty reliever Brian Matusz in the eighth to close Oakland’s scoring.
Utilizing an effective curveball all day, Hill struck out five and walked three, throwing 103 pitches to lower his ERA to 2.39.
MOMENTS THAT MATTEREDSingles night: Of the A’s 15 hits, 12 were singles, three of them hit in a row with two outs in the second to bring in their first run of the day. Three base hits belonged to Lowrie, who improved to 13-for-24 with runners in scoring position this season with his two-run single in a three-run sixth.
