Tigers not ruling out DL stint for Zimmermann

OAKLAND — The Tigers are optimistic that pitcher Jordan Zimmermann will make his scheduled start next week but haven’t yet ruled out the possibility of the right-hander going on the disabled list.
Zimmermann was pulled from his previous outing against Tampa Bay with a groin strain after throwing a season-low 81 pitches and was scratched from his start this weekend in Oakland.
The 30-year-old played long toss before Friday’s game and is scheduled to throw a side session this weekend. If all goes well, Zimmermann will start against the Los Angeles Angels on …
