Kyle Hendricks one of several prospect payoffs at deadline time

It wasn’t that long ago that Kyle Hendricks was a prospect in the Rangers organization, a year out of Dartmouth, but desired and landed by the Chicago Cubs in a deal that sent pitcher Ryan Dempster to Texas.
Hendricks is part of a group of former prospects dealt in deadline-day deals who are paying off big time for the teams that got them. He starts at 2 p.m. ET Wednesday against the Mets on ESPN/WatchESPN.
Here are some of the deadline-time prospects who have fared best in 2016.
2007 — Rangers get Elvis Andrus from Braves for Mark Teixeira

An old one, but a good one. Andrus was one of four notable prospects (Matt Harrison, Neftali Feliz and Jarrod Saltalamacchia being the others) who went to the Rangers. Andrus has lasted the longest. After hitting .263 and .258 the past two seasons, Andrus is hitting .296 with 13 stolen bases for the first-place Rangers.
