Liverpool held a Barcelona team containing Luis Enrique, Pep Guardiola, Patrick Kluivert and Rivaldo to a goalless draw in the first leg of the 2001 UEFA Cup semi-final. Gerard Houllier’s side produced an organised and disciplined defensive display at the Nou Camp, with their best scoring chance coming when Robbie Fowler headed over from Steven Gerrard’s back-post cross.
