Late Fer strike earns Swans win

A tap-in from Leroy Fer was the difference as Swansea started their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win at new boys Burnley.
Fer’s 65th minute strike helped the Swans to a hard-fought opening win of the season against a gritty Clarets side who will feel hard done by not to have at least earned a point at Turf Moor.
Francesco Guidolin’s side started the match with new signing Fernando Llorente making his league debut up front with Leon Britton captaining the side.
For Burnley there were no new faces to start the match, with Johann Berg Gudmundsson their only debutant after he came on in the second half.
Both teams started slowly with Sean Dyche’s side trying to put pressure on the Swansea forwards from early on, but it was Llorente who got the first attempt on goal. A header which Tom Heaton was able to easily catch.
And it was the 6ft 4in Spaniard who had their next chance, taking the ball off Ben Mee and with some space free outside the box, drilled an attempt low towards goal which Heaton could clutch to his chest.
That proved to be a wake-up call for the Clarets as they started to forge some chances …
